The Energies of January | Jennifer Hoffman

Published January 6, 2013

Happy New Year! I believe it’s going to be a wonderful year and we will finally see the results of the work that we have been doing for decades. Don’t look for too many changes in January though, this month we’re setting the foundation for what is to come. This is a time for intention, balance, consideration, alignment and integration. We’re creating the boundaries for our path; the action and movement will come later. Although we want to jump out of the starting gate as soon as we think the wheels are beginning to turn, to get away from what has been limiting us but that’s like taking a trip without knowing where you want to go, or how you are going to get there and whether there is enough gas in the car to even get started.

January’s energies will feel relatively calm after the activity of the past three months. With the Uranus/Pluto square, the eclipse in November and December’s activity, we need some time to regroup and that is what we will find in January. Rather than feeling like nothing is happening, it’s more like watching ducks gliding across the water. On the surface it looks like they’re just floating along but under the surface, their little feet are pedaling fast. The surface may look and feel calm right now but there’s a lot happening under the surface for all of us.

It’s time for us to get serious about what we want to do now, starting with looking at where we are present in our lives. What are we focused on — where we have been or where we are going? Where is our energy flowing, in the past or in the present moment? How are we moving energy, through intention or wishful thinking? Intention is a conscious, directed and powerful focus on what we want to manifest in our life. With wishful thinking we hope things will turn out OK but feel out of control, powerless and off balance. We are powerful, divine beings whose human experience is a mirror of our ability to know ourselves as masters of energy. We can move energy but we have to set intentions for it to move in the direction we want it to. And we have to consider our energy budget.

We each have an energy budget which determines how much energy we have to create our reality. The amount of energy we can use, although the supply is unlimited, depends on where we are present, or where our focus is. Whatever that is, whether it is on this week’s problems, next week’s commitments, regrets from the past or fears about the future, that is where we are present and that is where our energy is going. And when our energy is going in many different directions, without focus or intention, our energy budget gets depleted rapidly.

2013: Let Your Spirit Shine | Alan Cohen

Would you like to capitalize on your talents this year? Are you tired of doing things that bore or grate against you? Are there visions and dreams that call to you? Will the universe support you if you follow your spirit?

The beginning of a new year is a perfect time to take stock of your talents. What comes easily and naturally to you? What would you do even if you weren’t getting paid for it? What do people compliment you for? These are all clues to your talent. This year don’t bury your talent or hide it under a basket. It’s why you’re here.

Many years ago a young Kansas City artist struggled to get his cartoons published in city newspapers. His offerings, however, were met with rejection after rejection. “Forget it,” editors told him. “You have no talent. Get a real job.” But the artist felt that he did have talent and he refused to compromise his career.

Finally the artist found himself holed up in a mice-infested garage, penniless. Bored, he began to sketch his environment, especially one little mouse who ran back and forth on his window sill. Over time the artist made friends with the rodent and the two developed a relationship. He named the mouse “Mickey.”

The artist was Walt Disney, and you know the rest of the story. Disney went on to establish the most expansive entertainment empire in the world, with amusement parks spanning the globe, major film and television companies, and countless spinoff products. Over the years Walt, Mickey, and their entertainment progeny have provided limitless joy for hundreds of millions of children and their families. If you have every visited one of the Disney parks or watched Disney films or television, you can thank Walt Disney for trusting his talent.

A more modern wayfarer, Cesar Millan grew up poor in Mexico in a house with no running water. Young Cesar was shy and unpopular, and other kids made fun of him because he spent time with dogs; they laughingly calling him “El Perrero,”or “dog boy.” In 1990 at age 21 Cesar crossed the border into the U.S. as an illegal immigrant, paid for by his father’s $100 investment in his son’s better future. Speaking no English, homeless, and penniless, Millan walked the streets and hung out in a park. There Millan befriended people walking their dogs and helped them improve their pets’ behaviors. Eventually Cesar got a job in a dog grooming shop, where he helped tame an aggressive Cocker Spaniel. The owners liked him and gave him a key to the store so he could get off the streets and have a place to sleep and shower.

Millan moved to Los Angeles, where he worked hard in a car wash. The owner gave him a van to start a mobile dog training business. Cesar met actress Jada Pinkett (who later became actor Will Smith’s wife) and helped her with her dog. Pinkett was so impressed that she introduced Cesar to her Hollywood friends and paid for him to get a tutor for a year to improve his English. In 2004 the National Geographic Channel gave Cesar Millan his own television show, which became a hit and fueled his worldwide reputation as “The Dog Whisperer.” Millan’s show, broadcast in 80 countries, has spawned five bestselling books, a line of pet products, several dog sanctuaries, and generous charity donations.

One has to wonder what the world would be like without the gifts bestowed by Walt Disney, Cesar Millan, and Stephen Jobs, who quit college to design fonts, and eventually built the Apple empire. Do you believe you have less to offer than them? You may not be interested or destined to build an empire, but you can build a kingdom of heaven raising your child, waitressing in a restaurant, or helping the elderly. God has given everyone a unique talent to serve and find reward, including you.

This year don’t bury your talents. Let them shine, and the universe will support you in wondrous ways.

The 'In Between' Stage

January 2013
Peace & Blessings,

It's such an honor to connect with you today from the expanded space of Oneness we have co-created together. We did it!

It brings me great joy to welcome you back to this sacred space that has been within each of us since the beginning of time. Thank you for choosing to usher in this Divine Love consciousness with billions of kindred spirits across the Universe, knowing prior to entering this experience it would be a big undertaking just to arrive at this point.

Together, we have pierced through the veils of illusion and called forth the time our great ancestors dreamt for us thousands of years ago. It's time to release the identity that we are just small Earth beings, and remember that we are vast Galactic beings.

We have now firmly planted a solid foundation for Divine love to emerge and become the default setting of our planet. What we have co-created is immune to anything that may have attempted to alter this course, because our Divine will has made it so. As these waves of Divine Love continue to sweep through every fiber of Earth and her inhabitants, a golden age unlike anything we've experienced for eons of linear time is rising.

The 'In Between' Stage

So where are we now? We are currently moving through an 'in between' stage. These stages usually follow cycles of completion and precede cycles of new beginnings. These stages allow us to pause and reflect on all that has brought us to where we are today. They also give us an opportunity to rest and recharge, so that when it comes time for us to experience great movement again, we are ready.

Sometimes during these reflective periods, the mind may use the quiet time to conjure up belief systems that complicate or distract; it may try to convince itself of things like 'I should be doing ...'  In the case of the recent completion of the 26,000 cycle, the mind may try to convince itself that "Nothing has really changed," or "My specific expectations didn't show up, so now I have to be disappointed.”

During 'in between' stages people may feel lost, disappointed, alone, disconnected, empty, tired, confused, sad, doubtful, resentful or anything that vibrates at a similar frequency. If you are someone who may be experiencing something along these lines, know first of all that you are not alone. Sometimes these energies come to the surface because the mind doesn't know what to do when the older patterns of being less than our truest selves, patterns that it was so used to, simply no longer work. Also, know that these emotions are simply a result of the mind’s way of protecting itself, which I speak of often. The mind likes to also compartmentalize and analyze to keep itself busy. So now that we know that the mind does these things, we can choose to be easy on ourselves and to simply release anything that may take us away from the truth of who we really are.
